UKFT Futures Official Launch

UKFT is delighted to announce the launch of UKFT Futures, a brand-new platform promoting careers in the UK fashion and textile industry. Developed with the generous support of the Textile Livery Group, the platform allows users to explore opportunities and find their path within the industry.

Richard Humphries Wins Root and Branch Award

The Root and Branch Award panel have awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award to Richard Humphries MBE, a Liveryman and Past Upper Bailiff of the Weavers’ Company, for his support over his thirty-five years’ Livery membership, in engaging with the craft, training the next generation, charitable efforts, and ensuring the Livery movement’s relevance to the industry today

Becket Pageant

The Company were delighted to be able to support the Becket Pageant over the weekend of 24/25 June 2022. Thomas Becket attested the first Weavers’ Company Charter in 1155 so we really had to be there.

New Cloak for the High Sheriff of Greater London

The very first official ceremonial garment for High Sheriffs of Greater London has been designed and created in collaboration with London College of Fashion, Making for Change and Fine Cell Work. It will be worn for the first time by the new Lady High Sheriff of Greater London, Heather Phillips. This project was supported by a number of Livery Companies including the Weavers’ Company.

Heathcoat Fabrics Receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Tiverton-based textile manufacturer Heathcoat Fabrics has been recognised with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation. The company developed a high performance parachute fabric that has contributed to outstanding commercial success, including delivery of NASA’s Perseverance Rover onto the surface of Mars in February 2021.

New Wall Hanging Unveiled

At the Textile Awards on 22 February in Saddlers’ Hall, Wayne Hemingway unveiled the new Company Wall Hanging. This was created by Jonathan Mackinnon, who also won the Stuart Hollander Award.

The Prince of Wales becomes Museum of London Patron

Many congratulations to the Museum of London who have just announced that HRH The Prince of Wales has becomes its Patron.

The winner of the 2021 Weavers’ Company Platinum Award for Textile Art Announced

The winner of the 2021 Weavers’ Company Platinum Award for Textile Art as part of the Koestler Awards is “Sitting Together”. A group of artists at HM Prison Bronzefield made “Sitting Together” whilst living under lockdown, which, for many prisoners and detainees, has meant 23 hours a day locked in-cell.

Life is better than fiction on Ridley Road

Delighted to see an article in yesterday’s Guardian reporting on the success of the Future Hackney Project and Phase 2 of the Project. The Company has supported this project since its inception.

HRH The Prince of Wales

The Worshipful Company of Weavers are delighted that His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales has accepted the Company’s invitation to become an Honorary Court Assistant.
