Trailblazers

Trailblazers is a UK charity which provides 1:1 mentorship and practical support to people in prison and post release. Our goals are to prevent reoffending and improve outcomes for those leaving prison. Their work inspires and encourages people to change their future, rebuild their lives and make a positive impact on their community.

The grant from the Company was used in full to support delivery of the Bridge to New Futures pilot for men leaving HMP Bullingdon. This was essential in enabling Trailblazers to maintain consistent mentoring and employability provision at a reduced overall project scale and to adapt delivery in response to participants’ needs.

32 men participated in the programme, 94% did not reoffend during the monitoring period and 66% secured employment.

The Weavers’ funding allowed us to intervene at the point of release to prevent poverty, secure accommodation and help men move into work - all of which are critical to reducing reoffending. By combining mentoring with practical support such as phones, food and clothing vouchers, and financial help to start employment, we were able to stabilise people quickly and support long-term, stability with crime-free futures. - Sarah Ball; Service Delivery Director
When I was released, I didn’t have work, money or a place sorted. Trailblazers helped me get food and clothes, sort my benefits, speak to landlords and apply for jobs. Having someone stick with me meant I could get back on my feet and stay out of trouble. - D, Mentee
