The Trust aims to improve the lives of local residents in Thanet, Kent, who would otherwise have little chance of doing so themselves. It aims to tackle unemployment by providing training, to help people close skill gaps and become more job-ready. In addition, the Trust works with local organisations to provide better opportunities for the community and therefore improve their employability.
The grant from the company helped them set up a new project called ‘New Beginnings’ through the provision of vocational training and support to young ex-offenders and those at risk of offending that will help them gain employment in both the catering and retail sectors.
They have delivered 4 courses and over 170 new accredited qualifications were gained, with 40 (89%) people gaining all 4 qualifications within their course. To date, 14 learners from the first two courses (64%) have managed to find work within 6 months of completing their courses.
