Communities Welfare Network supports vulnerable young people to develop the skills and confidence they need to move towards employment and greater independence. A grant from the Weavers’ Company supported its Employment Training and Volunteering Scheme for Young Ex-Offenders, providing participants with practical training designed to improve their employment prospects and help reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Training included areas such as basic IT and interview skills, helping participants prepare for the workplace and build confidence in their abilities.
The project supported 16 young people, with participants reporting improvements in both communication and employment skills. Importantly, five participants went on to secure part-time or full-time employment. Communities Welfare Network also reported a reduced tendency towards reoffending among those taking part. The project was delivered as planned and on time, providing vulnerable young people with new skills and practical support to help them take positive steps towards employment.
