Clean Slate Solutions were first registered as a CIO in 20021 and they aim to support people across Teesside and North Yorkshire with a past conviction into paid employment. Their mentored approach ensures they select those who are stable, ready, and committed before referring into their network of willing employers; thereby compassionately Transforming Lives…one at a time.
With help from the Company, they have worked with 11 offenders and placed 6 of these into employment. One of these individual’s story is shared below.
Andy's Story
“Clean Slate Solutions have been with me every step of the way since I got released from a 4 year sentence aged 19.
They were very honest with me from the off and got straight to task to ensure I had all the Right to Work Documents which they funded such as: National Insurance, Birth Certificate & my provisional driving licence. Thanks very much Lorna!
After a few scheduled calls, I was offered the chance to meet a charity who were setting up a Hot Chocolate Pod called Choc & Co for events and wanted to give someone a leg up in life and provide assistance in getting them longer term work along the way. Joe travelled down that following day and took me to meet the potential employer for an interview!
I was offered the role and asked if I could come in the following day. Of course, I jumped at the chance and Joe kindly took me to the station on the way home to buy me a return ticket for the following day ahead. I was worried about the cost of the travel in the interim period before I got paid. Clean Slate accessed some funding and managing to make the impossible, possible again by getting me my monthly train ticket.
Once I was earning money, my attention turned to getting out of the accommodation I was living in, and they offered me assistance in a property bond and first month’s rent, but I managed to secure a council property. I received a cooker and a washing machine – a moving in present from Clean Slate Solutions.
As my role at the charity came to an end, Mariah at Choc & Co and, Joe & Lorna at Clean Slate Solutions all worked closely together to secure me longer term employment, always with my best interests at heart.
Joe worked with me and secured me an interview with the Hilton Hotel extremely close to my new home. The interview went well, and I was offered the job! Joe managed to secure me a financial donation to support me buying smart clothes for the new job along with transport and food for that first month.
Overall, everyone has helped me so much in getting my life on track again and allowed me an opportunity to prove myself to the world. Thanks everyone!
