Bidders are reminded that whilst it recognises the importance and significance of all sectors of the textile industry, the Company is particularly interested in providing support for woven textiles and assistance for those who intend to work for the benefit of the UK woven textile industry.

The Company is aware that the worldwide textile industry has undergone enormous changes in recent years with the pace of these changes becoming ever faster.  In making Support for Education Awards it seeks to help Weaving Departments to upgrade/renew their equipment, or purchase new equipment, to enable students to gain experience of modern technology as a first step towards a career in woven textiles.
Although the Awards are intended mainly for capital projects, applications for yarns and work experience placements will also be considered.
In addition, the Company welcomes applications for projects which link teaching to the world of work and help students prepare for entry into the industry.
The Company will also consider proposals that add value to teaching, such as sessions led by external specialists.
Applications for projects that duplicate work carried out elsewhere and those which would be more appropriately funded or undertaken by manufacturers, are unlikely to succeed.
In 2008/09 the total funding available will be £30,000 and the Company reserves the right to grant this as one or more Awards in any year.

The Committee's decisions will be published in December and are final.
